Chang, Cindy (Class of '80)Bio Link

Clarno, Vincent (Class of '94)

Clarno, a four-year member of the Boys’ Basketball team at Walnut Ridge, went on to play collegiately at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He returned to Columbus upon graduating and taught at Walnut Ridge while earning his master’s degree from the Ohio State University majoring in Policy & Leadership. He has since gone into administration and is currently the director of Student Activities for the Columbus City Schools.

Cox, Greg (Class of '84)

Cox, a standout for the Scots football team went on to play for the San Jose State University Spartans in college before a successful career in the NFL. He played for both the New York Giants as well as the San Francisco 49ers where he was part of their 1988 Super Championship side. A golden football commemorating his appearance in the Super Bowl sits in the Walnut Ridge trophy case.

Hanners, Dave (Class of '72)

Hanners, a member of the 1970-71 Scots boys’ basketball team that went 25-0 to win the AAA State Championship, went on to play collegiately at the University of North Carolina. While there Hanners player under legendary coach Dean Smith and alongside fellow Walnut Ridge alum Ed Stahl. Hanners graduated from UNC in 1976 with a B.A. in English Education then earned his M.A. in the field before embarking on a coaching career that has spanned five decades. He has coached at the high school, collegiate and professional levels. Part of that time was spent as one of Dean Smith’s assistants. Hanners was on the staff of five Final Four teams, four ACC Tournament champions and the 1993 National Championship team. Hanners also spent time coaching at East Tennessee State, Furman and UNC-Wilmington. His NBA coaching experience includes stints with the Charlotte Bobcats, New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans and the New York Knicks.

Kirk, David (Class of '73)

Kirk is the creator of the Miss Spider series of children's books published by Scholastic. The Miss Spider books have been adapted to a children's television show called Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends. David created several toy companies, Ovicular Toyworks, Hoobert Toys, and the Sunny Patch line of toys, marketed by Target stores from 2003 to 2010, and thereafter by Melissa and Doug toys. He also received the Gemini Award for Best Documentary Series.

Manivong, Nary  (Class of '00)

Manivong is New York City fashion designer and subject of the 2011 documentary DRESSED! He is also the co-created of the NAHM fashion line along with Ally Hilfiger daughter of renowned designer Tommy Hilfiger.

Miranda, Tom (Class of '76)

Mondadori, Mondadori

Mondadori, a Brazilian foreign-exchange student, led the Scots to their first ever Boys’ Soccer City Championship in 1997. In Brazil he played for Sport Club Internacional’s youth team, one of the top teams in Brazil before earning a law degree. Since then he has provided legal counsel for soccer agents and clubs throughout Brazil that represent various players in South America. Mondadori also works on cases involving the recuperation of player transfer fees to clubs that were responsible for training numerous professional soccer players at the youth level.

Nelson, better known by his stage name Copywrite, is an underground hip artist.

Paley, Eileen (Class of '80)

Paley, who graduated from the Ohio State University with a B.S. in Psychology went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from Capital University Law School. She has since worked nearly two decades in private practice, served as a Columbus City Councilwoman and a Franklin County Municipal Court Judge. Paley also served as a commissioner for the Columbus Civil Service Commission and was a past chair of the Columbus Bar Association Municipal Court Committee.

Rowe, Dana P.

Russell, Gary (Class of '04)

Russell, one of the top football players to ever suit for the Scots, earning Second Team All-Ohio honors his senior year. After attending the University of Minnesota where he set the Big 10 record for rushing touchdowns in a season Russell played for the Cincinnati Bengals, Oakland Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers. On February 1st, 2009 Russell scored a touchdown for the Steelers in Super Bowl XLIII. A golden football commemorating his appearance in the Super Bowl sits in the Walnut Ridge trophy case.

Sharp, Stephanie

Sharp was a co-creator of the Great Expectations Video Dating Service a precursor to the online dating empire.

Sillman, Richard (Class of '84)

Sillman, who graduated from the Ohio State University with a degree in Economics, was the youngest cable television directors in the United States.

Smith, Tero

Smith, better known by his stage name Camu Tao, is a hip hop recording artist and producer.

Stahl, Ed (1971)

Stahl, arguably one the most famous Walnut Ridge alums, was a 6’10” center on the undefeated 1971 AAA Ohio State Championship Boys' Basketball team. Following his illustrious career with the Scots, which included him being named the 1971 Ohio Player of the Year, Stahl went on to play at the University of North Carolina under legendary coach Dean Smith. After college Stahl has gone on to become a successful businessman founding several companies and the nationally recognized Shot Doctor Basketball Camp.

Traylor, Austin (Class of '11)

Traylor, a standout for the Scots football team from 2007-2010, was named All-City, All-District, All-Metro and All-State his senior year. He was the #11 ranked athlete in the state of Ohio and was offered scholarships by a host of Division I programs before opting for the University of Wisconsin. Following a successful collegiate career Traylor signed with the Dallas Cowboys in the spring of 2016. He has since played for the New England Patriots, San Diego Chargers and is currently a member of the Denver Broncos. 

Wheelwright, Ernie (Class of '03)

Wheelwright, a towering 6’5” wide receiver, was a standout on the football field and basketball court for the Scots. After receiving numerous scholarship offers Wheelwright decided to attend the University of Minnesota. Following his collegiate career as a Golden Gopher Wheelwright went on to play for the Baltimore Ravens and the Canadian Football League’s Saskatchewan Rough Riders. His younger brother Robert currently plays wide-receiver for the Wisconsin Badgers.
